Current events are moving very quickly and as we take into consideration the coronavirus expansion in Maine, it is becoming more and more difficult to rationalize a continuation of normal when, well, the events surrounding us are no longer normal.
Ruth and I believe it is in everyone’s best interest to follow the latest Maine CDC recommendations and suspend this Friday’s potluck and our regular Tuesday night rehearsals for the time being.
Our concert is currently scheduled in 5 weeks’ time and that timeline will most likely change. We will continue to keep you updated as guidelines from Maine CDC adjust, which may help us make an informed decision on resuming a rehearsal schedule in the near future.
I know there have been contrasting opinions throughout the US on the severity of this virus, and there’s always a chance that we may all be overreacting; however I also know that not acting in a prudent manner in this case could endanger our community at large in ways that are untenable. These are unprecedented times and in the most difficult moments, I find confidence and comfort in the strength, resilience and compassion of our local community. Thank you for all of your hard work, it has been and continues to be an honor to make music with you every single week.
Be well and healthy. I look forward seeing each and every one of you in the near future.
We’ve upgraded our web site – with any luck, no more foot fungus ads! Rehearsals for the Spring 2020 season started January 21, and our concert will be April 25 at Hope Baptist Church. If you couldn’t make the first rehearsal and want to join, please come early (6:30-ish) this week to sign in and get your music. Hope to see you then!
